September is the busiest month for outdoor family photoshoot. Autumn colours and coming Christmas card season activate people to look for family photographer. But Autumn is not the only season to have family photos taken. You can have your family photographed outdoors around the whole year, you just need know how to prepare for different seasons. So what is the best time of the year for your family? This totally depends what colours you are after and if you have small kids who are not able to stay awake very late.
Which season is right for you?
Yearly Spring you will have brown and grey tones in the nature and the sun goes go down quite early, which suits for small children. Late Spring you can expect fresh green colours, soft whites. This time suits for the small children as the sun doesn’t go down very late.
June and July have dark green colours, wheat fields and sun down is very late which is not ideal for families with small children. Families with teenagers or kids over 10 years old will not have a problem to have an outdoor photoshoot during these months.
When we come to August and September the sun down is earlier and has more golden colour, which I absolutely love! Also the wild weed fields are turning in beige colour. Maybe for these two reasons this is also families favourite season.
In October you will again have brown and grey colours, but also weather conditions are a bit more difficult than during the summer months. But when it starts snowing, we have a fun season to have family photos! Specially children loves it as you can play with the snow during the session. I quite often get questions about the clothes for the winter session. My suggestion always is to dress up in layers. That will give more interest to the photos and keeps every one warm.
Below you can find family photos from different seasons. Can you recognise when these outdoor family photoshoot was happening? And which is your favourite season?
